About Scythe Digital Edition
Scythe: Digital Edition adapts Jamey Stegmaier's 4X board game to PC. The setting is an alternate 1920s Europa rebuilding from the Great War, where five factions vie for The Factory: a mysterious city-state that produced the war's terrifying combat mechs and has since become the object of everyone's desire.
The five playable factions (Saxony Empire, Crimean Khanate, Rusviet Union, Polania Republic, Nordic Kingdoms) each start with different resources, starting positions and secret objectives. The asymmetry is built deep into the design; the same map plays differently depending on which faction is exploring it. Combat is deterministic with no dice (each player commits hidden bid cards), and the only chance elements are Encounter cards drawn when entering new territory.
The engine-building loop covers four action tracks: building structures, enlisting recruits, deploying mechs, and upgrading the economy. The order in which a faction develops technologies and abilities creates the strategic identity for any given run. Multiplayer is supported online; AI opponents fill in for solo play.
