About Serious Sam Classics Revolution
Serious Sam Classics: Revolution combines Croteam's original Serious Sam Classic: The First Encounter and The Second Encounter into a single unified package, then layers new content on top. The project started with Alligator Pit, an indie team of Serious Sam fans working with Croteam's blessing. After Alligator Pit had to step back, Croteam took over the final stretch and brought the project to release themselves.
The headline content additions are eight brand-new campaign maps and a stack of additional enemies, including an epic new boss fight that wasn't part of either original release. Everything available in the two classic games is retained — the journey through Ancient Egypt, the Mayan Civilization, the Persian Empire and Medieval Europe — with the same arcade-action density of Beheaded Kamikazes, Sirian Werebulls, Kleer Skeletons and Mental's other signature horrors that defined the franchise.
The technical refresh is what makes the package interesting for veterans. The Serious Engine 1 has been updated with all-new advanced graphics shader support, full 64-bit compatibility, full Steamworks integration (servers, browser, achievements, leaderboards), and a long list of bug fixes. Multiplayer covers online and local co-op plus competitive Deathmatch and Scorematch, with new modes — Team Deathmatch, Capture-the-Flag, Control Zone and others — unique to Revolution. A new Survival mode and over 100 secrets across the campaign keep the long tail running. The game is a standalone product and is free to anyone who already owns both classic games on Steam, with full Serious Editor and Serious Modeler support for community content.
