SHOGUN Total War - Collection

SHOGUN: Total War - Collection bundles the original Total War strategy game with its official expansion, Mongol Invasion, the first entry in a long-running, award-winning series.

The base game is set in Japan in 1542, a country in turmoil after the collapse of the last shogunate, split among feudal warlords each scheming, murdering and waging war to become supreme ruler, while the first European explorers arrive bearing guns, religion and disease. Only one daimyo will master the full art of war, including politics, economics, subterfuge, strategic warfare and battlefield tactics, and become Shogun. It debuted the now-legendary Total War formula, a mix of turn-based grand strategy and real-time battles, with a zen-like simplicity that hides a deep and rewarding game, here updated for modern resolutions and Steam.

The Mongol Invasion expansion poses the period's great what-if. Historically, Kublai Khan's horde was turned back from Japan by catastrophic weather, but here you can play either the invading Mongols or the ruling Hojo clan, fighting to take the islands for the Khan or secure the homeland. It adds a new playable faction, new units on both sides, new campaign and multiplayer modes, and a map editor.
