About Total War WARHAMMER II
Total War: WARHAMMER II hands four factions of the Warhammer Fantasy world a single shared problem: the Great Vortex above Ulthuan, which once banished Chaos from the world, is failing, and whoever controls how it falls controls the outcome. High Elves under Prince Tyrion want to stabilize it. Lizardmen under Mage-Priest Mazdamundi push north from Lustria with the same goal but Old One methods. The Witch King Malekith's Dark Elves want it for themselves. The Skaven, led by Queek Headtaker, look up hungrily from below.
As a Total War title, the structure splits cleanly in two. Turn-based campaign play handles diplomacy, settlement growth, recruitment, Legendary Lord progression and the strategic map across Lustria, Ulthuan, Naggaroth and the Southlands. Real-time battles handle the fights — thousands of troops, monsters, dragons, magic, ambushes and the kind of tactical decisions that turn a numerical disadvantage into a victory.
Each Legendary Lord starts in a different geographical position and plays differently — campaign mechanics, magic lores, unit rosters and even the methods of warfare diverge per race. The Great Vortex Campaign builds toward a climactic endgame structured around a series of arcane rituals each faction performs while sabotaging the others.
Owners of the first Total War: WARHAMMER also unlock a combined-map campaign at launch, fusing the Old World and the New World into a single playable space with any owned race. Two-player co-op is supported on every campaign, and the multiplayer side covers both custom battles and matchmade fights against other people's armies.
