About Space Rangers HD A War Apart

Space Rangers HD: A War Apart is SNK-Games' remaster and substantial expansion of the cult-classic Space Rangers 2, developed in close cooperation with the long-running fan community. The game has always been one of the strangest genre-blends in the strategy space — open-world space RPG with elements of real-time strategy, arcade combat, text adventures, and ground-based planetary RTS battles — and this version adds an entire new storyline on top of the original campaign.

The new pirate scenario runs in parallel to the original Dominator war. While the Coalition spends its resources fighting the Dominators (sentient machines who seek to eradicate all life), the pirates have united under a mysterious leader and begun a guerrilla campaign to seize power in the weakened galaxy. You can choose which war to fight, fight both simultaneously, or finish one and continue into the other. Pirate playthroughs start you at the bottom of the hierarchy and let you work your way up through story missions, side quests and promotions toward the unknown leader at the top.

The technical overhaul brings display resolutions up to 1920×1200, modern multi-core processor support, Windows 7 compatibility, anti-aliasing in 3D planetary battles, and reworked main menus, loading screens, and planet and station vistas. More than 15 new musical themes have been added to the soundtrack. Other additions include over 10 new text adventures, 15+ planetary battle maps, 20+ government missions, non-story events, new equipment and micromodules, and direct main-menu access to all hyperspace engagements. Player and AI actions both affect the war balance, ensuring no two playthroughs unfold the same way.
