About Starcom Nexus
Starcom: Nexus opens with the protagonist's worst possible first command. Fresh from the academy, you've been handed a light shuttle for a routine survey assignment — and then suddenly that shuttle is stranded in an unknown galaxy surrounded by hostile aliens, with no clear path back to anywhere familiar. Whatever brought you here is part of the mystery, and finding home means figuring it out from the inside.
The game is a fully open-world space exploration RPG. The galaxy is dotted with planet anomalies, ancient artifacts, hidden monuments and side quests, with hundreds of individually authored discoveries to find. Combat is fast-paced and tactical against multiple hostile factions, each with their own AI behavior and territorial logic. Over 150 technologies sit in the research tree, ranging from incremental upgrades to wholesale shifts in what your ship can do.
The modular ship-building system is the long-tail hook. You design your own vessel from components — weapon turrets, engines, generators, shield modules, specialized systems — and the configuration directly affects how the ship handles in combat and exploration. Alien factions can be fought, negotiated with, traded with, or befriended depending on player choice and reputation, each with their own dynamic AI and shifting agendas. Quick-save anywhere lets you experiment with risky decisions without restart penalties, and the broader story binds the exploration together with multiple intersecting plot threads.
