The Blackwell Legacy

The Blackwell Legacy is the first chapter of Wadjet Eye Games' acclaimed Blackwell series, a noir-tinged supernatural point-and-click set in modern New York City. When Rosa Blackwell's only relative dies after twenty years in a coma, she thinks the worst is over. Then Joey Mallone, a sardonic ghost from the 1930s, appears in her life and tells her she's a medium with inherited family duties.

Three NYU students have killed themselves one after another. Nobody else thinks a sinister force is at work, but Rosa and Joey know better. Trial-by-fire investigation work follows, as the unlikely pair set troubled spirits to rest while navigating their own complicated dynamic. Rosa is reluctant and unprepared; Joey has been doing this for decades and remembers his own death imperfectly.

Classic point-and-click puzzle solving with hand-pixeled scenes, voice acting and a jazz-infused score. The game launched in 2006 and kicked off a four-game arc plus an epilogue. Wadjet Eye Games (Dave Gilbert) developed and published the series, which became one of the most respected modern adventure-game series for its writing and atmosphere.
