About Inspector Waffles
Inspector Waffles is an old-school detective adventure that commits hard to its core conceit: a noir mystery where the entire cast is anthropomorphic animals, primarily cats and dogs. Inspector Waffles himself is a brilliant feline detective working the Cat Town Police Department, drinking glasses of cold hard milk between cases and carrying the weight of a previous investigation that still haunts his old partner.
The new case is the murder of a high-profile industrialist CEO beloved by the citizens of Cat Town, an act that raises new questions and fears across the community. As the best inspector on the CTPD, Waffles has no choice but to push past the painful memories of the previous case, don his well-worn overcoat, and prepare to get his paws dirty. The investigation takes him across the city to track hidden clues, interrogate shady suspects of various species, and unravel a dangerous mystery — with the warning that curiosity killed the cat hanging over the whole campaign.
The presentation is beautifully simple pixel art paired with a jazzy original soundtrack full of notes pleasing to your ears and brain. The script delivers dry humor and puns about cats and dogs in unrelenting quantity, with the developer joking that the pun supply is exhausted by the end of the campaign. A peculiar mystery, a story full of intrigue, and a slew of characters to interrogate combine into the kind of detective adventure that earns the old-school classics comparison rather than just gesturing at it.
