Toki

Toki revives the cult arcade action-platformer first released in 1989, rebuilt with all-new hand-drawn graphics and a re-orchestrated score. Toki the warrior had a quiet life in the jungle alongside his beloved Miho, until the voodoo sorcerer Vookimedlo and the demon Bashtar struck without warning, snatched Miho and twisted Toki into a chimpanzee.

As a now hairy, lethargic ape, Toki sets off to save her, exploring lush environments overrun by foul creatures: the Labyrinth, Neptune Lake, the Cave of Fire, the Ice Palace, the Jungle of Darkness and the Golden Palace. He can walk, jump, swim and climb, and, stripped of his usual weapons, he puts his strong jaws to work, spitting projectiles at whatever stands in his way, picking up helpful objects like a football helmet and a pair of flippers along the journey.

The remake keeps the merciless difficulty of the arcade era, when every coin mattered, so you can chase the top of the high-score table without emptying your piggy bank, with a new easier mode for rookie players. It was hand-redrawn by illustrator Philippe Dessoly, who also worked on the 1991 Amiga version, with a re-orchestrated soundtrack by award-winning composer Raphael Gesqua.
