About Afterdream
Afterdream is a 2D side-scrolling psychological horror adventure made by Finnish studio MiteRunner, the developer behind Faraway. You wander through the rooms of a ghost-occupied residence carrying a strange camera whose viewfinder reveals what bare eyes can't.
The central mechanic is the camera itself: hold it up to look at the world through its lens, and certain objects light up as photographable. Snap them and you can interact with them, pick them up, or trigger the next beat of the story.
The game leans on atmosphere over confrontation. There are no combat systems and no jump-scare loops — instead, a dreamlike soundtrack, dense pixel-art rooms, and a deliberately ambiguous narrative about why you're in this house at all.
The story unfolds as you collect items and piece together what the apparitions want. It's short, deliberate, and self-described as handmade rather than asset-flipped, which matches the careful frame-by-frame work on the art.
