Gun Devil

Gun Devil is exactly as self-aware as its title suggests. You play a demon whose ordinary peaceful evening at home is interrupted when Satan walks in, sees that you have a wife, decides he's having none of it, and uses his magic to teleport her off to the home of his son — the Caramelized Dumbass, a magic-school student with an inappropriate crush on your wife (his teacher) and a private army to defend his stupidity.

The game itself is a straightforward action platformer with explicit comedic intent. Nine challenging stages run through hell's worst neighborhoods. Four unlockable weapons sit waiting at the demon babe statue, ready to be claimed once you find your way to them. The combat is fast and gore-soaked in the cartoonish pixel-art way that the game's tone demands — enemies transform into blood splatter on impact, every weapon has weight, and the boss fights commit to their personalities.

Along the way you'll encounter other abducted demon babes who reward rescue with their own bonuses, which gives the linear platforming a small completionist dimension. The pixel art is sharp, the homemade soundtrack carries the right amount of attitude, and the writing knows exactly how stupid it is and keeps doubling down.
