METAL SLUG

METAL SLUG on Steam is a port of the 1996 SNK arcade game that started the long-running run-and-gun series. You play Marco Rossi or Tarma Roving, soldiers of the Peregrine Falcon Strike Force, fighting through six missions against General Donald Morden's Rebel Army.

The series-defining mechanics are all here at their original scale: pixel-perfect 2D animation, the Metal Slug tank you can pilot when you find one, the screen-clearing super weapons (Heavy Machine Gun, Rocket Launcher, Flame Shot), and the prisoner rescues that drop weapon power-ups.

Arcade Mode plays the original six missions front-to-back. Mission Mode lets you start from any stage you've cleared, alone or with a co-op partner. Online Mission supports Steam co-op so you can run the campaign with someone across the internet.

Full control, language, video, and sound configuration are exposed, and Steam leaderboards track high scores. The game won't run on Windows XP. This is preserved arcade content — sprite work and animation that helped define late-90s 2D action games, dropped onto Steam with minimal modernisation, which is exactly what most series fans want from a port.
