About Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War II Chaos Rising

Chaos Rising is the first expansion to Relic Entertainment's Dawn of War II, returning to Sub-Sector Aurelia a year after the events of the base game. A long-lost ice planet has emerged from the Warp, bringing fresh threats with it: the Black Legion of Chaos Space Marines and a slowly tightening corruption that the Blood Ravens themselves aren't immune to. The central tension of the campaign isn't the external war — it's the question of which of your own squad members can be trusted.

The expansion adds 15 new single-player missions that pick up where Dawn of War II left off, continuing to use the small-squad, hero-led structure that distinguished the sequel from older RTS games in the franchise. Squads carry their wargear, leveled abilities and accumulated experience forward, and the new corruption system means choices made in the field can push individual heroes toward Chaos in ways that affect the story's ending.

On the multiplayer side, Chaos Space Marines join Space Marines, Orks, Eldar and Tyranids as a playable race, with their own roster of units and a doctrine focused on aggression. New units arrive for all the existing factions to keep the meta moving, and the cooperative Last Stand mode adds two new heroes — the Chaos Sorcerer and the Tyranid Hive Tyrant — to face down its endless waves.
