About Warlord Britannia
Warlord: Britannia is a first-person immersive-strategy game from solo developer Darkmatter Games. You play a Roman general handed command of a legion and orders from the Emperor to conquer the island of Britain. The whole campaign is played through your general's first-person perspective.
The open world is more than 45 km² across three seamless geographic zones: forested Lowlands, rolling Midlands farms, and stark Highlands tundra. There are no loading screens between regions. Trading convoys, roaming warbands, and local populations all exist in real time, going about their business whether you intervene or not.
You recruit up to 15 Centuries of legionaries, construct marching camps with palisade walls and patrol routes, attack settlements, impose taxes, and decide how heavily to oppress the population. Hundreds of Romans and Britons can clash on the field at once, and you fight alongside your troops in real time rather than commanding from a top-down view.
All weapons, armor, structures, and gameplay elements draw on documented archaeological and literary sources from 1st-century AD Britain. The local population spreads word of your actions; repeated atrocities trigger uprisings and raids on your camps. A genuine genre experiment — neither pure strategy nor pure action.
