Yokai Art Night Parade of One Hundred Demons

Yokai Art: Night Parade of One Hundred Demons opens with the protagonist accidentally breaking the seal on a mysterious family book that grants control over any yokai once defeated and recorded by name. The unleashed magical power alerts every yokai in the region, and they march to reclaim it or destroy you.

The gameplay is chess-style tower defense. Your units are positioned on a grid laid out like a chessboard, defending territory against waves of yokai entering from the other side. Each yokai has its own attack pattern (long-range, melee, tanky, fast), so positioning the right unit at the right square matters more than raw stats.

Resources earned by destroying enemies feed into upgrading each unit type. Planning becomes a real puzzle when an elite yokai with strong minions approaches and the existing formation has to adapt mid-battle. The Japanese folklore-inspired environment design carries the visual identity, with traditional yokai like kappa, tengu, kitsune and oni rendered as opponents with distinct combat profiles.
