About A Monster's Expedition
A Monster's Expedition is structured as an open archipelago: every island is a self-contained logic puzzle, and the puzzle is always the same shape — figure out which tree to push, in which direction, to lay a path to the next island. Trees fall to the cardinal directions, span gaps, sometimes splash into water as logs, and chain into solutions you can see two or three steps ahead.
Draknek & Friends, the studio behind Cosmic Express and A Good Snowman Is Hard to Build, scaled the design up to hundreds of islands while keeping the difficulty curve gentle. There's no fail state, no timer, no death — only the slight embarrassment of pushing the wrong tree and having to walk back home for a do-over.
Each island carries a small museum exhibit about long-vanished humans, written by monster anthropologists who get most of the details charmingly wrong. The tone is curious, dry, and never in a hurry — the kind of game you can put down for a month and pick back up exactly where you left off.
