Paquerette Down the Bunburrows

Pâquerette Down the Bunburrows is a pathfinding-based puzzle game with a deceptively simple premise: the burrows are full of bunnies, and you have to capture them. The catch is that the bunnies are smart. They flee from Pâquerette when she gets too close, they dash through tunnels carefully avoiding dead ends, and they refuse to walk into corners just because you'd like them to. Outsmarting them requires reading their predictable AI patterns and manipulating their movement against them.

Each level is hand-crafted to introduce a new wrinkle to the formula. Some teach you to herd bunnies by predicting their flight directions; others give you specific tools — traps, pickaxes, carrots — to deploy when pure pathfinding manipulation isn't enough. The progression is tight and well-paced, with each new burrow region adding mechanics that recontextualise what you've already learned without invalidating it.

Five bunburrows make up the main campaign, each with its own distinct 16-bit visual style and accompanying musical theme. Between expeditions you drop by the surface to chat with Ophéline, the game's gruff-but-sweet shopkeeper, who'll occasionally offer upgrades for sale. The campaign features over a hundred standard bunnies to capture, plus baby bunnies to track down through more obscure means, and a tail of secrets lurking in the deeper sections. The most important feature, per the developer's own marketing copy, is bunnies — and the game is built around treating that joke as load-bearing design.
