About Taiji

Taiji is an adventure puzzle-solving game set in a mysterious world where every puzzle uses the same consistent interface: a grid of tiles that can be toggled on or off. The deceptive simplicity of the format is the entire design philosophy — there's never any confusion about what to interact with, but figuring out what to actually do is the real challenge. Pixel hunting and adventure-game obscurity are eliminated, leaving only the logic.

The puzzles are organized across many different areas, each with their own distinct visual and mechanical themes. As you explore the dense, interconnected world, new symbols and rules are introduced progressively — and many of them are taught not by tutorial text but by puzzles whose solutions teach the mechanic itself. Recognizing what a given symbol means becomes part of the puzzle, and the same panel can have very different solutions depending on which area's rules you've already mastered.

The game's signature design move is hiding vital clues in plain sight. Environmental details that seem decorative often contain the critical information for solving nearby puzzles, and learning to pay close attention is the actual skill the game develops. Taiji has earned comparison to The Witness and similar puzzle-density games for good reason — the design respects players enough to never explain itself directly, trusting that the systematic interface will reward careful thinking. The dense world is full of secrets hidden in plain sight, and the rewards for noticing them are entirely the player's own.
