About Slice of Sea
Slice of Sea is a hand-drawn puzzle adventure entirely created with ink on paper. You play Seaweed, a small sea creature trapped in metal armor with legs but no arms, awakened in a dry mountainous landscape with no sea in sight. The world is called Daymare, full of abandoned structures the original inhabitants left long ago, now inhabited by an entirely new menagerie of creatures.
The split between player and protagonist drives the puzzle design. Seaweed walks (you move him with the keyboard), but his armor has no arms, so all environmental interaction happens through your mouse as an omnipotent witness. Levers, contraptions, hidden passages and creature interactions are yours to manipulate while Seaweed waits patiently in the scene.
Mateusz Skutnik, known for the Submachine series, brings the same eerie inked-line aesthetic and unhurried pacing. Each location is meticulously designed and nothing is procedurally generated. Ambient music by Thumpmonks scores most of the journey, with a main theme song by Cat Jahnke punctuating key moments.
