Call of the Sea

Call of the Sea is a first-person puzzle adventure set in 1934, in the far reaches of the South Pacific. Norah has crossed the ocean following the trail of her missing husband's expedition and finds herself on a lush island paradise — a nameless, forgotten place dotted with the remnants of a lost civilization. The question of what strange secrets the island holds, and what Norah might unearth in her quest for the truth, drives the entire campaign.

Norah is plagued by a mysterious illness that frames her personal stakes alongside the mystery of the missing expedition. Cissy Jones (Firewatch, The Walking Dead Season 1, Baldur's Gate III) provides her full voice performance, giving the protagonist a grounded human presence as the surreal elements of the island gradually emerge. The story focuses on a charming character study of a woman discovering both the truth of her husband's disappearance and who she really is.

Gameplay covers exploration and investigation across a stunning tropical environment brimming with fantastic sights, lost ruins and occult mysteries. You investigate clues left by the previous voyage, piece together what actually happened to the expedition, and solve a variety of clever puzzles tied to the island's strange architecture and the cultural artifacts of whoever lived there before. The story-driven adventure layer carries emotion, suspense and surreal surprises in roughly equal measure, with the final act earning the lingering questions the early chapters set up.
