About No one lives under the lighthouse Director's cut
No one lives under the lighthouse Director's cut is framed as an old PC game you find on a forgotten CD: poorly translated from another language, mysterious cover copy, and an install wizard that opens an Instructions.txt file before the game even starts. The premise inside is simple: you arrive at an old lighthouse on a small island near the coast of the United States, take over from the previous keeper who has gone missing, and watch the light.
The Instructions.txt lays out keeper duties: care for the light, manage stores, never leave the lighthouse wholly unattended, be courteous to visitors, keep the basement locked up tight and visit it neither yourself nor allow anyone else, light the lamp punctually at sunset until sunrise. The first rule of horror games applies: every restriction will become relevant.
A single playthrough takes 1-2 hours, with three endings, low jump-scare density, retro aesthetics, and multiple interpretations. The Director's Cut update remakes most of the late-game content, completely changing the second hour of the game and adding new things to the earlier part. All endings were remade, some becoming much harder to achieve than others.
