About Contraband Police
Contraband Police is a border-checkpoint simulator set in the mountainous Karikatka region of the fictional Acarist People's Republic in 1981. You play a young officer trainee assigned to a remote post, and from the first morning the game is a careful balance between paperwork and violence. Entry into the country is regulated to the comma, your every move is watched, and a recent killing of a fellow officer makes clear that the surrounding mountains are not as quiet as the regulations imply.
The document layer is the slow-burn core. Visitors arrive with sets of papers, and your job is to spot whatever inconsistency would justify refusing them — name mismatches, expired stamps, photographs that don't quite line up with the person in front of you. The required document set grows over time, errors get harder to catch, and intelligence dispatches feed you tips about specific drivers who probably need their vehicles searched with the UV flashlight and a more invasive set of tools.
Around the inspection booth sit a string of more active systems: shootouts when Oberankov's gang attacks the station or when an away mission turns hostile, car chases after smugglers who'd rather run than be arrested, and a base-management layer for upgrading the post's defences and the cars in your motor pool. Special assignments push you into investigations, ambushes and decisions about how to handle the Blood Fist rebels — choices that visibly shape what Acaristan looks like by the end of the campaign.
