Crypt

Crypt - The Black Tower is a free third-person click-to-move RPG built as the first major project of Endless Void studios. The framing is unusual: you play a recently summoned skeleton, raised by a decrepit and clearly insane necromancer whose weak magic abilities have left you as his only hope at returning to the mages' castle that expelled him. The necromancer wants revenge rather than redemption, and you have to decide whether to serve his will or carve your own path as something more across the world's ancient and forgotten places.

The game's biggest inspirations are the classic RPGs Dark Souls and Diablo 2, with the click-to-move combat blending lock-on melee and magical carnage across a war-path through a long-dead world. The campaign runs across five Acts with a detailed open-world system designed to run smoothly on a wide range of hardware. The basic campaign-focused mode emphasizes story and exploration over the long-tail systems of commercial RPGs of similar scale.

As a free-to-play indie title from a small studio, Crypt is offered without ads, in-game purchases, or paywalled content — the developer's stated framing is that the game is their gift to players. Games are fully savable with old saves carrying through to new versions, though the game allows only one save file at a time to preserve part of the retro feel the project aims for. Future updates may add multiplayer and additional options, but the current release is the focused single-player vision.
