The plot opens with journalist Nico Collard investigating a ruthless drug gang in Paris and unexpectedly stumbling across an ancient artifact — an ornately carved obsidian stone that looks like nothing the gang should have. From there, Nico and her returning adventuring partner George Stobbart are drawn into a mysterious escapade of intrigue and deceit, tangling with powerful forces and antagonists who will stop at nothing to fulfill their evil ambitions.
