About Dawn of Man
Dawn of Man is a survival city-builder from Madruga Works (the studio behind Planetbase), spanning more than 10,000 years of human prehistory from the Stone Age to the Iron Age. You take control of a settlement of early modern humans and guide them through the eras, balancing immediate survival against long-term growth.
Gameplay covers four major loops: hunting, gathering, planning for harsh times, and expanding/fortifying. Ancient megafauna like Mammoths, Woolly Rhinos, Ancient Bison, Megaloceros and Cave Lions are hunting targets for meat, skins and bones. Fruit, berries, water, wood, flint, stone and ores are gathered from the environment. Seasonal preparation means storing non-perishable food and warm clothing for winter survival.
Research technologies enable larger populations but bring new challenges: increased food demand, morale issues, more frequent raider attacks. Megalithic engineering lets settlements mine and transport massive stones to construct colossal stone structures (Stonehenge-style monuments). Farming and animal domestication eventually let you produce food at scale. The campaign spans the entire arc of prehistoric human achievement, with each era unlocking new mechanics and challenges.
