About Distance
Distance is the spiritual successor to Nitronic Rush — the multi-award-winning student project from DigiPen Institute of Technology — built by the same core team after they founded Refract Studios. The premise: your car is not just a car. It can jump, rotate, fly, drive upside down, climb walls, and survive obstacles that no normal vehicle has any business surviving.
The city you race through is mysterious, neon-drenched, and actively hostile. Tracks don't loop; they're survival courses you complete in the fastest time, with obstacles around every corner that punish hesitation. An Adventure mode provides a short single-player campaign that drives into the dark heart of the city, while Arcade tracks let you race ghosts of the leaderboard's best for medals that unlock new courses.
Multiplayer supports up to 12 players online and 2-4 in split-screen across modes including Sprint, Reverse Tag, and Stunt. The level editor and Trackmogrify random generation have produced over 2,500 community-shared tracks on Steam Workshop. Full VR integration covers Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. The original soundtrack is by the Nitronic Rush composer.
