About DmC Devil May Cry

DmC is the alternate-universe reboot of Devil May Cry handed off by Capcom to UK studio Ninja Theory. The Dante here is younger, scrappier and visibly recoded for a Western audience — half demon, half angel, openly contemptuous of authority and not yet aware of what he is. The framing story draws him into a fight against the demon king Mundus through The Order, an anti-establishment group led by his twin brother Vergil.

Most of the action plays out in Limbo, a hostile mirror of the real world that physically rearranges itself to block, crush or confuse him. Walls slide closed, floors break apart, and signs in the environment turn into instructions or insults depending on the demon nearby. Combat keeps the series' sword-and-gun rhythm but layers angel and demon modes on top, letting Dante switch his weapons mid-combo.

Rebellion stays as the main blade. Ebony and Ivory hold enemies at range. The angelic Osiris scythe handles crowds. The demonic Arbiter axe breaks shields, and the Eryx gauntlets parry the heaviest hits. The result is faster and more fluid than older entries, with movement abilities tied to the same angel/demon toggle.

Capcom assigned veterans from earlier Devil May Cry titles to the project specifically to keep the combat language intact, while Ninja Theory pushed the cinematic side using performance capture. The combination is divisive among older fans but fluent in its own right — a stylish action game that knows exactly what it's borrowing and what it's leaving behind.
