About Magenta Horizon
Magenta Horizon is a fast-paced 2D action platformer from solo developer Maddison Baek, with combat inspired by spectacle fighters and a world built to look and feel like a living prog-rock album cover. You play Gretel, a reaper exiled from purgatory for 200 years.
Freed from her sarcophagus by a wandering soul named Archibald, Gretel sets out to find purpose in her afterlife by guiding him back to the sanctuary she was banished from long ago. The path there runs through a perilous, surreal landscape crowded with grotesque, soul-hungry demons and bosses.
You begin with a fully unlocked melee system and learn expressive combos at your own pace, juggling and pogoing enemies and turning environmental hazards into crowd control. The game rewards an aggressive style, with style points building toward a coveted Triple S rank. Five escalating difficulties reshape stages and enemy lineups, a flexible Necklace system tailors your build, and a soundtrack blends prog-rock and metal with jazz, disco, and orchestral touches. The first of three acts is free to play.
