Europa Universalis IV

Europa Universalis IV is Paradox Development Studio's grand strategy game spanning the late medieval period through the early modern era, roughly 1444 to 1821. You take control of any of hundreds of nations on a global map and play through the Age of Discovery, the Reformation, the colonisation of the Americas, and the rise of revolutionary politics.

The simulation is dense: trade flows through nodes shaped by which navies hold which seas, monarch power (administrative, diplomatic, military) feeds into reforms and technologies, and religious systems handle everything from papal influence to Coptic and Fetishist faiths. Dynasties matter — a strong monarch accelerates your nation; a weak heir can stall a generation.

War is one path, but development, diplomacy, and economic dominance are equally viable. National Ideas represent both historical legacy and ambitions; alliance webs, royal marriages, vassal management, and revolutionary movements all sit on top of the diplomatic layer.

This bundle includes the base game plus the Art of War, Common Sense, and Rights of Man expansions and a Digital Extreme Edition cosmetic pack. More than a decade of subsequent DLC extends the experience further (sold separately). Long-running and famously deep — many players run multi-hundred-hour campaigns and barely scratch the systems.
