Far Cry 2

In Far Cry 2 you take the role of a gun for hire stranded in an African country torn apart by civil war. Sick with malaria and short on options, you cut deals with the corrupt warlords running both factions, trying to carve out a place for yourself in this hostile land. Winning means finding and exploiting the weaknesses of enemies who outnumber and outgun you, through cunning, surprise and raw force.

Fire is a defining feature, with flames that spread realistically on the wind, letting players trap or encircle enemies using Molotov cocktails and flamethrowers. The DUNIA engine drives a fully destructible environment and a detailed nature-deterioration system, and its open world spans more than 50 square kilometers without loading screens, free to roam as you choose.

The campaign pits you between two rival factions on the way to a primary target, with over 70 side missions that yield intelligence, weapons and vehicles. Enemy AI behaves without scripting, as medics drag the wounded to safety and frightened grunts may drop their guns and flee. Multiplayer carries all of the single-player systems and a warning to watch your back, since allies can turn on you at any moment.
