About Far Cry
The first Far Cry is a detailed action shooter that pushed combat in new directions when it arrived. It follows Jack Carver, a freelance mariner who regrets ever sailing to a remote island after a reporter named Valerie paid him handsomely to bring her there. Soon after docking, a mysterious militia destroys his boat with artillery fire, his money is gone and Valerie has vanished, leaving Jack alone against an army of mercenaries with only a gun and his wits.
As Jack ventures deeper into the jungle, events grow stranger still. An insider within the militia reveals the horrifying purpose behind the mercenaries' operation and forces a grim choice on him: fight the deadliest of them, or let a madman's plan threaten all of humanity.
The game runs on the purpose-built Far Cry engine, featuring Polybump mapping, advanced physics, destructible terrain, dynamic lighting and full surround sound. Its standout 800-meter scalable view system supports genuine long-range gunplay, letting players lock onto distant targets with motion-sensing binoculars, while intelligent enemy units made up of snipers, stalkers, scouts and grenadiers coordinate attacks and call in reinforcements by land, sea or air.
