About Griftlands
Griftlands is a deckbuilding roguelite from Klei Entertainment, the studio behind Don't Starve, Mark of the Ninja and Oxygen Not Included. The setting is Havaria, a broken-down sci-fi world full of harsh denizens and harsher denizens, and the central mechanical contribution is that you don't just have a combat deck — you also have a negotiation deck, and most of the game's situations can be resolved through either or some combination of both.
Three distinct campaigns, each with their own character, deck pool, factional environment and map layout, anchor the game. Sal is an adventurer chasing profit and revenge; Rook is an ageing spy working his own agenda; Smith is an idle loafer who may also be the only person available to save the world. Each character draws from completely separate negotiation and combat decks, has different relationships with the world's factions, and gives the player a different shape of run to chase.
Decisions matter across multiple axes. Killing an enemy might earn you their gear but anger their friends, while sparing them leaves a dangerous piece on the board for the rest of the run. Factional reputation tracks who likes you and who wants you dead, and political relationships between rival factions can be played against each other for powerful boons — but double-crossing the wrong person produces lasting consequences. Hand-illustrated environments, hundreds of cards across the two parallel deck systems, and the option to hire mercenaries, find pets or recruit friends to your cause give the game more strategic breadth than most of its deckbuilding peers.
