About Poker Quest Swords and Spades
Poker Quest is a fantasy roguelike where you battle through a world of monsters using a standard 52-card deck. Cards like the Queen of Spades empower your items in combat, since bigger and better poker hands trigger stronger abilities on the gear you carry.
You march through a procedurally generated high-fantasy world of castles, knights, wizards and dragons, encountering a huge variety of locations and events, thousands of unique items and hundreds of monsters. Each of more than 20 heroes comes with a unique set of equipment and abilities to encourage different play styles, and you can choose whether to play with permanent upgrades or without, a roguelite-versus-roguelike distinction.
It feels much like a deck-builder but is fundamentally different, drawing its world-map structure from Slay the Spire and its card-driven combat from Dicey Dungeons before branching into its own novel mechanics centered on card probabilities. With practice, working out the odds of a hand becomes second nature, or you can play on Casual mode and not worry about it. Daily runs, challenge runs with modifiers and casino mini-games round it out.
