Insect Swarm

Insect Swarm is a top-down flying shooter in which you are the sole survivor on a barren alien planet overrun by millions of insects. You roam a borderless map, fight off the swarm, collect resources, and pour them into upgrading your airframe and weapons, with no level cap on any upgrade.

The aircraft can switch into a Mecha mode equipped with a long-reach melee weapon and a heavy Gatling gun. You move with the keyboard and aim with the mouse, carrying one main and one secondary weapon into each fight.

The planet was discovered only a few years earlier, a desert world rich in high-energy minerals. Mining bases sprang up until a roar from below released the alien Blood Insects, whose own concentrated blood turned out to be the very crystals being harvested. The creatures destroyed nearly everything, leaving you to survive, escape, and perhaps destroy the planet to end the threat for good.
