About ISLANDERS

ISLANDERS is a deliberately small strategy game about placing buildings on colourful procedurally generated islands. The whole game runs on a single elegant loop: you receive a small set of buildings, drop them on an island, score points based on how they interact with the surrounding geography and structures, and earn the right to unlock more buildings and to move on to the next island when you've gathered enough.

There are no resources to manage, no failure states beyond running out of buildings, and no enemies. The challenge is positional and aesthetic — figure out which combinations score best given the terrain in front of you, balance high-density clusters against the diminishing returns of overcrowding, and decide when to push your luck for one more building before you trip the end-of-run. The visual style is bright, low-poly and unhurried, and the soundtrack is intentionally soft.

The developers, a three-person team, are upfront that this isn't a sprawling blockbuster: there's no cinematic story, no online multiplayer, no microtransactions, no orcs. What you get is something you can play in five-minute sessions or for an hour at a time, with an infinite tail of new islands and the option to chase scores rather than complete anything in particular. The pricing reflects the scope, and the open influences run from Bad North through Anno, The Settlers, SimCity and Kingdoms and Castles.
