About LEGO Batman 2 DC Super Heroes

LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes opens up Traveller's Tales' Batman lineage into the broader DC roster. Batman and Robin remain the protagonists, but they're joined by Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and a cast of fifty unlockable heroes and villains drawn from the DC Comics catalogue. Lex Luthor and the Joker have teamed up to destroy Gotham, and the response requires more than the Bat-family alone.

The expanded cast means expanded abilities. Soar through the air with Superman's flight, freeze and push objects with super-breath, cut through obstacles with heat vision, swing with Wonder Woman's lasso, summon constructs with the Green Lantern's ring. Around the new powers, classic Batman gadgets and suits return — Batman's Power Suit, Robin's Hazard Suit with its absorbent Pressure Cannon — and the team-up puzzles ask which character solves which obstacle.

Gotham itself is a fully traversable open hub for the first time in the LEGO Batman series. Walk it, fly it, or unlock and drive a roster of vehicles including the Batmobile, Batwing and Batboat. The open city encourages exploration beyond the linear story missions, with collectibles and minor villains scattered across the streets.

This is also the first LEGO video game to feature spoken dialogue for the LEGO characters themselves — a tonal shift from the mime-and-grunt style of previous entries that lets the writing carry more comedic weight. Drop-in/drop-out two-player co-op with dynamic split-screen handles couch play, and the puzzle design is built around moments where both players need to coordinate distinct abilities.
