About Metro 2033 Redux
Metro 2033 Redux is 4A Games' rebuild of the 2010 original Metro 2033, ported to the engine the studio developed for Metro: Last Light and benefiting from every gameplay improvement that sequel introduced. The game runs at higher fidelity than the original — improved lighting, physics, dynamic weather — while preserving the atmosphere that made the source novel by Dmitry Glukhovsky a cult favorite.
The campaign follows Artyom, born in the last days before the nuclear fire of 2013 and raised entirely underground in the Moscow Metro tunnels. The year is 2033, and an entire generation has grown up in the besieged station-cities that constitute what remains of human civilization. A fateful event sparks Artyom's mission to the heart of the Metro, to warn the remnants of mankind of an impending threat — and to discover whether the real danger is the mutants outside or the ideologies festering in the stations themselves.
Two playstyles ship: Spartan, which leans into combat and tactical engagement, and Survival, which prioritizes scarcity and atmosphere closer to the original game's intent. The legendary Ranger Mode strips the HUD and UI, makes combat deadlier, and limits resources for the ultimate immersive experience. The combination produces hours of AAA gameplay anchored in one of the strongest story-driven shooters of its era.
