About Mothmen 1966
Mothmen 1966 is the first volume in a new series of interactive adventures called Pixel Pulps, fusing exceptional writing with stunning illustration inspired by mid-20th-century pulp fiction and 80s home computer graphics. Created by novelist Nico Saraintaris and artist Fernando Martinez Ruppel, the first volume includes three games: Mothmen 1966, Varney Lake, and Bahnsen Knights.
The setup: November 1966, the Leonid Meteor Shower. A young couple, a gas station owner, and a paranormal investigator get caught up in a terrifying conspiracy at the edge of their reality, where nightmare creatures lurk and mysterious men in black wait. You play Lee, a college student obsessed with the American Civil War, who has brought his girlfriend to Holt's gas station to watch the meteor shower; Lou Hill, a writer investigating links between meteor storms and human-size winged creatures with red glowing eyes, is already there.
The game unfurls a rich branching narrative through evocative illustrations, decides characters' fates Choose-Your-Own-Adventure-style, and folds in accessible brain-tickling puzzles. Designed for anyone who enjoys fine storytelling rather than puzzle gauntlets.
