About OTXO
OTXO (pronounced oh-cho) plays in the lineage of Hotline Miami: top-down view, instant-death gunplay, rooms cleared in seconds when you nail them and restart-button cycles when you don't. The protagonist enters an inexplicable mansion to find his lost love, with no memory of how he got there, and works downward through eight areas drawn from over 150 hand-crafted rooms shuffled into procedural order.
The central mechanic is Focus, a slow-motion ability that lets you dodge bullets and reposition mid-firefight. Manage your Focus meter well and you feel invincible; let it run out at the wrong moment and the enemy variety — each type telegraphing different attack styles — punishes the lapse immediately. Over 100 abilities and a wide weapon catalog unlock through the enigmatic bartender between runs.
Lapas, the solo developer behind the project, composed the gritty noir-pulse soundtrack himself. The art style strips color away to monochrome with a few saturated accents, leaning into the murder-ballet atmosphere of the genre's strongest entries. No two runs lay out the same; the unifying texture is the rhythm of dodge, draw, fire, refocus.
