About Retro City Rampage DX
Retro City Rampage DX puts open-world carjacking back in the 8-bit era as a love letter to 80s and 90s games and pop culture. Story Mode runs more than 60 missions of open-world adventure, Arcade Mode packs 40+ pick-up-and-play challenges, and the city in between hosts shops, minigames, customizations, collectibles, and special guest stars.
The content list keeps stacking: 25+ weapons and power-ups, 50+ vehicles to steal and equip, 200+ character customizations, 15 Steam Trading Cards, and three-plus hours of music spread across 13 radio stations. The IGF-nominated soundtrack comes from virt (Contra 4, Double Dragon: Neon), Freaky DNA (NBA Jam), and Norrin Radd.
The DX edition bundles in extras that go past the joke. An MS-DOS version (Retro City Rampage: 486) actually runs on 486 DX hardware and up, a prototype Windows 3.1 build in 16 colors is included, and a 100% hardware-accurate NES prototype (ROM City Rampage) could have actually shipped in 1989. Guest-star minigames feature Meat Boy, CommanderVideo, Steve from Minecraft, Mr. Destructoid, and others, with PC mod support, anaglyphic 3D, EGA/CGA/NES/SMS/C64/Apple II video filters, and play in five languages.
