About Ring of Pain
Ring of Pain inverts the standard roguelike dungeon crawl. Each level is a ring of cards arranged in a circle, with you at one position and encounters lined up around you. Each step around the ring is a choice — engage with the next card, backstab a creeping horror, sneak past for the loot, take a different path. The ring reacts to your actions and reshapes as you scavenge.
The encounter system broadcasts intent. Creatures show what they'll do next, so positioning becomes the central strategic question — can you flee, ambush, or pull the dungeon itself against an enemy? Mimics offer gear deals for a price. Build a combination of equipment with passive powers — quick and evasive with an acid-soaked blade, brute-force juggernaut, fireborn damage sink with an explosion affinity, or something stranger. 15-slot inventory, 300+ items.
The Daily Dungeon mode unlocks with 40+ puzzling modifiers, and 25+ special dungeons can be detoured through during the main path. Cryptic, poetic lore arrives in bite-sized rhymes. The graphic art style draws inspiration from Aphantasia — flat silhouettes against high-contrast backgrounds, the visual stripped to the elements the mind can hold. Cute frog friends appear. Pain and suffering also appear.
