About Rolling Line
Rolling Line is a model railway simulator from Gaugepunk Games built equally for traditional PC play and for VR (HTC Vive, Valve Index with finger tracking, Oculus Rift, Windows Mixed Reality). The game's central proposition is the kind of layout-and-operation experience a real model railway hobbyist would have, with the option to switch freely between human-scale (standing over the layout as a real model would) and miniature-scale (riding inside the cab of a working train) at any moment.
Layouts are designed to look, feel and operate like real model railroads. Switch boards control the tracks, portable hand-held controllers drive the trains, and the room's lighting can be adjusted to taste. You can push wagons around on the rails by hand to build trains and then take control of them using DCC-style controllers. The construction system covers tracks, scenery props, terrain chunks, buildings, vehicles, working signals, level crossings, overhead wires, electrification, and a simple paint system for colouring scenery and stock.
Steam Workshop integration is the long-tail value. More than 7,000 community-built layouts and over 20,000 mods and custom liveries are available for instant subscription and use. Built-in official layouts span scenery and trains from New Zealand, America, Brazil and other locations worldwide. Multiplayer with a public server browser and dedicated server hosting lets you play with friends or strangers; modding tools let advanced users import their own 3D models and textures. The game even includes its own official in-game magazine for community content and update notes.
