Roots of Yggdrasil

Roots of Yggdrasil is a roguelike city-builder set in the aftermath of Ragnarok. Sunna and her Viking tribe are caught in a perpetual time loop, building settlements on procedurally generated islands of a fractured World Tree while trying to climb toward Yggdrasil's top. Every failure resets the loop, returning to a permanent hub called the Holt with accumulated knowledge and meta-upgrades.

The central tension is the race against the Ginnungagap, the void that consumes settlements that linger too long or fail to expand efficiently. Each loop's settlement must produce enough resources to advance, while the void closes in. Procedurally generated islands, encounters and events ensure no two expeditions repeat.

A drafting-and-deckbuilding hybrid governs which buildings are available each loop. Pre-run, you customize the deck by adding and removing building cards, shaping the challenges and opportunities of the next attempt. A roster of Scions (deities, heroes, mythological beasts inspired by Norse mythology) can be befriended for unique playstyle modifiers and bonuses. The Holt is customizable and unlocks permanent upgrades between runs.
