About Seraph's Last Stand
Seraph's Last Stand is a rogue-like shoot 'em up that draws explicit inspiration from the Flash-era classic Heli Attack. The core loop is wave-based combat with progressive item pickups — every wave you finish, you pick a new upgrade from a randomized offering, and the right combinations of items can snowball your character into absurdly powerful builds. Breaking the game with crazy stacked synergies is the explicit goal.
The item pool is the strategic heart. Over 40 different items can be picked across runs, plus secret items you discover only by stacking specific combinations. Some items are obviously powerful on their own; others only show their potential when paired with the right partners. Finding the synergies that turn an okay run into a game-breaking one is where the long-term meta lives.
Character customization extends to staves and hats. Multiple staves give your basic attack different characteristics, and hat selection adds another layer of build-defining traits. The combination of starting choices and run-time upgrades produces a wide design space for players who want to optimize, while the game stays approachable for first-time players who just want to see how far they can get.
The leaderboard system is the social hook. World, national and local ranks track high scores at multiple scales, so you can compete against the global top players or against the people in your immediate region. Every playthrough starts clean — no persistent unlocks — which keeps the competition focused on skill and run-time decisions rather than accumulated grinding. For arcade-style high-score chases, Seraph's Last Stand delivers exactly the right amount of depth for the genre.
