About Sonic Frontiers
Sonic Frontiers is the franchise's first attempt at open-zone design, with five massive Starfall Islands each carrying its own biome — dense forests, overflowing waterfalls, sizzling deserts — and its own action-platforming challenges. Sonic gets stranded on the islands while searching for the missing Chaos Emeralds, and the campaign opens up the largest playable space the series has ever attempted.
The combat system is genuinely new for the franchise. Dodges, parries, counters, combos, and the all-new Cyloop ability — a circular dash that creates rings of force on the ground — give Sonic the tools to fight strategically against both regular enemies and the colossal Titans that anchor each island. A skill tree upgrades the combat options as you defeat enemies.
Cyber Space portals scattered across the islands lead to compact 3D platforming levels in the classic Sonic style — high-speed corridors with specific platforming challenges and the bouncy momentum-physics the series built its identity on. Side quests, puzzles, structures to scale, fishing minigames, and friendly cameos round out the open-zone exploration.
