Sunset Overdrive

Sunset Overdrive is set in 2027, the year FizzCo's hit energy drink OverCharge Delirium XT turns most of the population into bright orange mutants. For Sunset City this is a catastrophe; for the player character — fired the day before by FizzCo, stuck in a dead-end job — it's an unexpected liberation. The streets are empty of authority, the rules are gone, and the city has effectively turned into a vertical playground.

Movement is the whole personality of the game. You grind power lines, run along walls, vault off cars, bounce off awnings, and the combat system is wired so that staying off the ground is rewarded and standing still is punished. The weapons follow the same logic — dynamite-launching teddy bears, fireworks rifles, harpoon guns, acid sprayers — leaning into the absurd rather than any sort of military-shooter authenticity.

The Steam release packages the single-player campaign together with both story expansions — Mystery of Mooil Rig and Dawn of the Rise of the Fallen Machines — plus the Weapons Pack. The tone leans hard on irreverence, with the script breaking the fourth wall whenever it feels like, and character customization is loose enough to let players build whatever ridiculous post-apocalyptic outfit fits the energy of the city.
