About Turok
Turok was one of the early FPS games to make full use of analog control and an early 3D world, and Nightdive's remaster carries the original level design forward into modern hardware. The Campaigner, an evil overlord, is trying to reassemble the Chronoscepter — a shattered weapon that lets its wielder rewrite the boundaries between ages. Turok, a time-displaced warrior, has eight pieces of it to find and one fortress to bring down.
The enhanced engine adds widescreen and high-resolution support, OpenGL with vertical sync, dynamic lighting and bloom, FXAA, improved water and light shaft effects, and full rebindable inputs. Steam Achievements ship in the package. The original arsenal of fourteen weapons — from the Plasma Pulse Rifle up to the Atomic Fusion Cannon — remains intact.
The Lost Land itself is the draw the game was always selling: open arenas full of velociraptors, triceratops carrying mounted weapons, and a head-tracking T-Rex that follows you with its eyes before it follows you with its teeth. The infamous draw-distance fog of the N64 release is now a setting you can dial up or down to taste.
