About Withering Rooms
Withering Rooms takes the soulsborne-RPG template and grafts it onto a procedurally regenerating Victorian mansion that rearranges its rooms every night. You explore Mostyn House to collect weapons, magical artifacts, keys, and crafting materials, then face the next night's threats with whatever you've assembled — or whatever you preserved through rituals before sleeping.
The monster roster is dense: overgrown undead, invisible ghosts you can only locate by sound, devious witches with their own spell vocabularies, axe-wielding madmen who chase across multiple rooms. Boss encounters scale up from these baseline threats. Secret passageways, dusty attics, and the Byzantine Labyrinth beneath the mansion reward exploration beyond the surface floors.
Moonless Formless built the spell system around environmental manipulation — hex traps on closet doors, enchanted suits of armor that fight alongside you, decoy mimics that draw fire while you reposition. The world beyond Mostyn House includes hedge mazes, tombs, caves, churches, and ruins, each with its own dangers and rewards. Steam Deck support is intentional from the design phase.
