About Brigand Oaxaca
Brigand: Oaxaca is set in a post-apocalyptic version of southern Mexico, with the campaign carrying you from a banana plantation through toxic caverns, the sprawling city of Pochutla, a flooded irradiated coastline, and demon-infested jungles. The world is brutally hostile and the game is explicit that you'll die often — and the developer's pitch is that you'll like it.
The skill system carries 14 unique trees ranging from agility to firearms, hacking, hardware, and voodoo, with over 80 special abilities to unlock — throw your weapon, upgrade your guns, control the weather, and many stranger options. The crafting system is largely based on the Anarchist's Cookbook — make grenades from empty beer cans and the right chemicals, that sort of thing. Total freedom of movement and action means you can jump from roof to roof, rob stores, blow things up, or murder friendly characters if that's your thing.
Threats include rival tribes fighting for fertile land, mutated ghouls emerging from caverns at night, demons hungering for your flesh, the irradiated coastline eating at civilization, plus disease, insanity, and hunger. The world editor is completely versatile, supporting fan-made stories, new skills, scripts, and imported assets. The developer explicitly permits selling mods for the game on other sites as long as they link back to the Brigand store page.
