About Death's Door
Death's Door follows a crow employed as a reaper, punching the timecard at an office that processes souls. The work is steady until the soul assigned to your shift is stolen, and tracking the thief takes you out of the orderly afterlife and into a region the reapers stopped visiting — where creatures kept right on growing past their expected expiry, gathering power and grudges in the meantime.
Combat splits into melee, arrows and magic, with the camera held at a fixed isometric angle. Mistakes get punished cleanly: enemies hit hard, attack patterns are readable, and bosses tend to be physically large with telegraphs that reward learning rather than reflex. Character stats are customizable, and the abilities you collect along the way reshape both fights and traversal.
The world itself is the second pull. Acid Nerve's environments shift in mood from melancholic to comic to genuinely unsettling within a single area, and the bosses each carry their own story about why they refuse to die. Devolver published the game in 2021, and the tone — somber but with sharp little jokes pulling the weight away — sits very close to the studio's other work.
